Technical Writer
(Contract position for end-user documentation for web-based business application)

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility for this contract position is to write end-user documentation from concept to completion for a newly developed business reporting application for corporate end-users, including a quick start guide, online help document, FAQs, and additional materials to support end-users. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Participate in planning the overall design of technical documentation for new business reporting application working with Development, Design and Product Management teams;
- Work with technology, client services, and product and marketing departments to establish documentation needs of internal and external clients; and
- Complete other writing projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Computer Science, or related field with a minimum of three to five years related experience in writing technical documentation. The successful candidate will have the following:
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required; must be able to effectively write user-friendly manuals, guides, and other support materials for both technical and non-technical audiences;
- Critical attention to detail with a solid grasp of grammar and punctuation skills is required; must have the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines with quality and accurate documentation;
- Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style and ability to consistently uphold it across product lines;
- Web and tech savvy including proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe In-design, Photoshop and HTML; familiarity in XML preferred;
- Strong organizational and project management skills; and
- Desire to work in a small-team environment with the ability to work independently and with a cross-functional team made up of technical and non-technical members.

Reporting:
Will report to the Vice President, Technology and Production and will work closely with the Technology, Client Services, and Product and Marketing teams and others throughout the Company as needed.
Location:
Waltham, Massachusetts; telecommuting is not an option.
Compensation:
This is a contract position for technical writing services for approximately three months. The anticipated standard hours will be 40 hours/week for the duration of this assignment; there may be some weeks where hours vary based on project demands. Compensation will be commensurate with experience; please submit hourly rate requirements with resume.
